The First Day of Creation in Genesis

In

creationThe first book of Genesis talks about creation, or the start of it all, in a very different way from other texts. The ancient texts of the time when Genesis was written spoke of the creation as an accident of the gods. Today accounts talk about it being an accident or something that came out of chaos. Yet, in the Bible we see something that starkly contrasts that. Lets take a look at what it says and what that means.

An Introduction To Genesis - Part 1

In

GenesisGenesis is, possibly, the most controversial book of the bible. The way the creation story told in Genesis contradicts popular science is enough to make most people feel weird about it. Even many Christians shy away from Genesis to stay away from this weirdness. Some Christians don't believe the creation story and buy into the ideas of popular science. But, what does the book of Genesis really say? What does science say? Including scientific theories that aren't as popular and scientific knowns that are rarely taught to us in schools.

What is the Goal of our Relationship with God?

In

flip flops The path we walk in life has many forks, how do we choose which path to walk? This is the question that everyone asks at either one time in their life, or more likely, regularly throughout life. This morning, around a fireplace at a cabin in the woods, a few of us went from relaxing to a deep conversation about just this.

It all started with a book. The book is about an unhappy church worker. One, who had done ministry for some time, was left feeling empty. As a result he changed his life and wrote a book about it. The book talked about filling up your internal tank and seeking God. But, and there was a but..... we didn't agree with what the author wrote.

Jesus Loves Me, An Adult Version

In
Jesus Loves MeWhen I was a kid in the church my mom made me sing with the other kids. One of the songs that stuck from my childhood is "Jesus Loves Me". Singing this song as a kid made me think of it as a kids song. About the only time I hear it in church is when the kids get up and sing it.

But, it's not a kids song. It's a very adult song and can carry a lot of meaning and emotion in it. I know I took it for granted until recently. I bought an album and the last song on the, non-religious, album was "Jesus Loves Me." It stired something inside me and reminded me the power in that song.
